Matt has been practicing law in North Carolina since 2002. He received his undergraduate
degree with honors from the University of Notre Dame in 1995. In 2002, he graduated
with high honors from the University of Georgia School of Law. He served as an
editor of the Georgia Law Review and was inducted into the Order of the Coif.
Matt joined Martin & Jones in the Spring of 2006. Before that, he practiced
at one of the largest corporate law firms in North Carolina, focusing on the defense
of workers’ compensation, civil insurance, and products liability cases. While
working for insurance companies and large corporations, Matt became more and more convinced
that he would rather help real, flesh-and-blood people who have been injured.
Matt has broad experience in workers’ compensation and insurance law. He
has participated in hearings before the North Carolina Industrial Commission and has
significant experience arguing dispositive motions in Superior Court. Matt has
also argued successfully before the North Carolina Court of Appeals.
Matt lives in Raleigh with his wife and three young children. When he can find
the time, he loves to read fiction, biographies, history, and philosophy. He enjoys
playing soccer and is absolutely obsessed with Notre Dame football.
