Sean began his practice in 1997, representing insurance
companies and corporations. That experience showed him
the huge corporate resources that injured people have
to fight against to protect their rights. He therefore
left insurance defense behind and came to Martin &
Jones in 2000, in order to fight for those who truly
need his help.
Sean is a trial lawyer who represents individuals injured
in motor vehicle collisions involving passenger automobiles
and commercial vehicles. He has worked on behalf of
numerous people who were severely injured in trucking
accidents. He takes several cases to trial each
year and handles an active appeals practice. He has
represented hundreds of individuals against the insurance
industry. Sean works for people with all types of injuries,
including catastrophic injuries and families pursuing wrongful death claims.
Sean has represented dozens of people who received
faulty hip implants. He has also represented individuals
in other personal
injury claims, including people injured on commercial
premises and people with claims against state agencies.
He has fought for justice for injured people against
some of the largest companies in the world.
Sean represents people with bad
faith insurance claims, as well as individuals with
claims for unfair and deceptive trade practices. He
also pursues products
liability claims, and has represented people injured
by defective pharmaceuticals and medical implants. He has helped other people with
claims against nursing
homes. He has represented individuals throughout
the southeastern United States and all along the East
Coast.
Sean is originally from Grundy, Virginia. He graduated
with multiple honors from King College in Bristol, Tennessee
in 1994, and earned his law degree in 1997 from Wake
Forest University, where he was a member of the student
trial bar and the National Moot Court Team. Sean was
inducted into the Order of Barristers upon graduation.
He immediately began his practice after the bar exam
in 1997, and is admitted to practice before all state
and federal courts in North Carolina.
Sean has served in a variety of positions with the
North Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers, including serving
as Chair of the Young Lawyer’s Division. He has
worked with the Academy to lobby the state and federal
legislatures to protect individual rights.
He is a frequent
speaker on a variety of topics dealing with settlement
and trial of personal injury claims and practical trial
skills. He has been a guest lecturer at Campbell University
Law School on the topic of jury selection, lectured
on the Sulzer Hip Implant Recall for the American Association
of Legal Nurse Consultants, and has conducted continuing
legal education classes throughout the state for the
Academy of Trial Lawyers, the North Carolina Bar Association
and Wake Forest University.
