Run, Walk & Roll Event Benefits Children With Disabilities
Four Martin & Jones staff members walked in the 2nd Annual Run, Walk & Roll fundraising event organized by TelAbility. On Saturday, May 1st, Tammy Boyd, Wendy Kriebel, Zoila Barraza and Donna Elliott joined nearly 600 hundred participants and helped raise almost $35,000 to help support TelAbility and UNC's Pediatric Rehabilitation Program. The event was held at Crowder District Park in Apex, NC.
TelAbility is an innovative, community oriented, interdisciplinary program from the UNC Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation that uses telecommunications to improve the lives of children with disabilities. Using real time video-conferencing and internet technologies, TelAbility provides comprehensive, coordinated, family centered care to children with disabilities across North Carolina and offers education, training, and peer support for people who care for them.
Dr. Joshua Alexander, Director of Pediatric Rehabilitation at the UNC School of Medicine, explained, "The proceeds from this year's event will help to ensure that we can continue to support and collaborate with the many medical, healthcare and educational professionals who help manage our patients' care, educate others about the latest treatments and resources for the special needs community, and enhance the lives of children with disabilities."
