Nursing Home Resident Receives $725,000 Settlement For Large Pressure Sore

After caring for their mother for several years, two daughters were forced to place their mother in a nursing home. After only 38 days, a volleyball size bedsore developed on the mother's back. In an effort to alleviate the pressure, the nursing home ordered an inflatable mattress. The nursing home staff inflated the mattress and inappropriately placed the inflated mattress on top of the existing mattress. As a result, the inflatable mattress was above the bed's guard rails. An aide rolled their mother off of the bed breaking her hip. When the daughters contacted Martin & Jones, Martin & Jones filed suit against the nursing home resulting in a recovery of $725,000. The recovery allowed the daughters to take their mother home for the last stage of her life.
