How Long Do I Have to File My Asbestos Case?

  Return to Videos

Video Transcript

So how long do you have to file your case?

Well, if it's a case for yourself, based on your diagnosis with an asbestos disease, there are time limits. They're called statutes of limitations. Those are typically based upon the date of your diagnosis. The time limit itself can vary depending on state and other things. It's complicated, so you should certainly call a lawyer as soon as you know that you've been diagnosed and we'll work on that with you. If you are looking to file a case for a deceased family member, then that statute of limitations will be based upon their date of death. So, again, those laws are complicated. You should call an attorney immediately to figure out and determine if you have enough time left to file the claim.
