So workers' compensation is a system of benefits provided to workers who are either injured or suffer from an occupational disease. It's written into North Carolina law as Chapter 97 of our general statutes. So workers' compensation provides two main categories of benefits. There's wage loss which can also be provided as an impairment rating at the end of the case, or medical compensation. So that's medical treatment like surgeries, therapy, and anything else that physicians determine is reasonably necessary to affect, to cure, provide relief, or lessen the employee's period of disability.
