Cancer Related Medical Costs Expected to Rise

The American Journal of Managed Care published the results of a study concluding that there will be an increased number of people treated for cancer in the next decade, and that the related medical expenses will increase dramatically, even doubling in some areas. This will have a effect on people who are diagnosed with asbestos related cancers, including mesothelioma and other forms of lung cancer.

The study factored in US Census Bureau as well as Medical Expenditure Panel Survey data, and concluded that early detection and prevention strategies are needed to mitigate the increasing burden that cancer has on our population.
