ET-Plus Guardrail Scrutiny Grows
The state of Virginia in a letter to the manufacturer of the ET-Plus guardrail end terminal stated that it is considering removing all of the guardrails presently installed and not installing any new ET-Plus system unless Trinity Industries conducts testing on the redesigned unit by October 24. A whistleblower trial started this week in federal court in Texas. The case filed under the False Claims Act, alleges that Trinity failed to disclose design changes made to the ET-Plus in 2005. Evidence presented at trial this week revealed that results of five failed safety tests conducted in 2005 were never provided to federal officials. Read more here.
