New Prescription Painkiller Caused Liver Failure In 48-year-old Woman; Settled For $2.75 Million
A 48-year-old woman was prescribed a new “painkiller,” which was similar to several other painkillers already on the market. However, due to a defective design in this particular medication, it tended to cause liver failure. Our client went in to liver failure and had to undergo a liver transplant. While the transplant was successful, our client experienced both disfigurement and permanent injuries associated with having had a liver transplant. The claim settled at mediation for $2.75 million.
